Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre

Our mission is to rescue and rehabilitate abused, neglected and abandoned horses, ponies and donkeys, while campaigning for the better treatment of animals across Spain. We are a no-kill foundation and provide each rescued animal with a safe and loving sanctuary – either here at our centre or via rehoming – for the rest of their lives.

Rescued: March 7, 2014

Rosie is a grey mare, believed to be in her late 20s and a very gentle and sensitive lady. She was among the 14 skeletal horses we rescued from a bankrupt horse dealer at Callosa de Segura in 2014, our largest and most expensive rescue operation to date.

Each horse was neglected, starving, and undoubtedly very near death. They had been kept in the most appalling conditions, chained to a wall 24 hours a day with very limited access to food and water. Eventually, their owner was criminally convicted of animal abuse. You can read the full rescue story here.

Rosie became a surrogate mum to our foal Lily when Lily's own mum (also one of the Callosa rescues) sadly passed away just six weeks after the birth.

But in 2016, we sadly and quite suddenly lost Lily to a mystery illness.

As a non-profit foundation staffed almost entirely by volunteers, we rely on your donations to continue our work to save horses like Rosie and to cover their ongoing feeding and care costs. Find out how you can help here.
