Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre

Our mission is to rescue and rehabilitate abused, neglected and abandoned horses, ponies and donkeys, while campaigning for the better treatment of animals across Spain. We are a no-kill foundation and provide each rescued animal with a safe and loving sanctuary – either here at our centre or via rehoming – for the rest of their lives.

Young horse lover raises hundreds of euros for Rojales equine rescue centre

A young Marbella student who threw her energy into fundraising for the Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre has won a charity competition hosted by her school.

Victoria Sagidullina is a student of Laude San Pedro International College in Marbella, where students are this term studying persuasion means as a part of public speaking classes.

Each child was asked to pick a charity and present it with a group of four classmates. The rest of the class then voted for the project they believed deserved the most support.

Victoria absolutely loves horses and chose to support the Rojales rescue centre despite living 500km away in Marbella.

Says Victoria's mum, Maria: "I feel like she has changed since she came across the Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre. She feels so deeply about your charity!"

Victoria passed the classroom challenge with flying colours and was then named one of six winners, which means she scores €500 for the rescue centre – enough to feed four rescued horses for an entire month.

The students actually fundraised this money – and more, which was distributed between the students' chosen charities – by approaching local businesses and explaining their projects to them.

Says Maria: "Victoria presented the Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre at a seminar for local business people, with about 50 people present there, and got some great prizes like 'dinner for two' at one of the best restaurants here, vouchers for local shops, a gorgeous necklace from a local designer, and a three-month advertising radio campaign worth €1200."

Victoria even went on RTV Marbella radio last month to talk about her project.

Rescue centre co-founder Sue Weeding said: “We're so pleased to see young people getting involved in animal welfare here in Spain and trying to make a difference. It really does make all the hard work we do feel worthwhile.

“Thank you so much for your support, Victoria, and for helping to spread our message far and wide. You really are a very special girl, and we hope to meet you one day soon and introduce you to all our horses."

The Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre, located just outside Rojales at Partido Lo Garriga, 59, opens to the public on the first Sunday of every month between 1pm and 4pm. Free horse tours run throughout the afternoon and refreshments are available in the café. For more details and directions, please visit www.easyhorsecare.net.
