Taffeta at Curvy Fashion Show
Charity begins in 1948 - Here at Looking Good Boutique I am lucky to meet a wide range of people from all over the world, all ages, shapes and personalities! Amongst them there are a lot of really lovely ones, some of them tell us stories of great achievements in their lives, others of great hardship and some stand out as fabulous because of what they do for others.
We have always raised funds for Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre near Rojales, from charity cocktail parties to fashion shows where our top attraction has been the fabulous four legged miniature horse Taffeta, supermodel and diva extraordinaire!! Our lovely customers have always got involved with whatever we are doing, constantly filling our collection tins in the boutique and donating to the charity shop just around the corner, however one customer has gone that extra mile and made an extra special and very personal donation.
Clare le Duc, a customer for many years and constant supporter of all our fund raising events for the rescue centre very kindly donated a beautiful porcelain stallion to EHCRC. This magnificent statue had been in her family since her father returned from Germany with it in 1948, Clare had always loved the statue but felt that it would be better used to raise awareness and funds for her beloved horses in need right here on her doorstep. Upon investigation on-line we have found some information on the statue that is by Gustav Gossenburger from Von Schierholz & Sons, a very famous German sculptor, and hopefully it will raise much needed funds at a charity auction to be held next year.
Saturday 24th November at Looking Good Boutique La Zenia was our Curvy Lady Fashion Show, with guest appearance from Taffeta, and we used this event to officially present Susan Weeding from Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre with the rearing stallion statue, Clare made the presentation with Taffeta looking on, as a mini horse in desperate need when she first arrived at Easy Horse Care, she perfectly demonstrated how important their work is and what a difference their intervention can make, Taffeta was so thin when she first arrived that her hip bones pierced her skin, now she is round enough to qualify for an appearance at a CURVY lady fashion show!
I am very grateful to Clare le Duc for making this special donation, and on behalf of Looking Good Boutique and Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre I would like to say a huge thank you, your generosity is very much appreciated.
