Visit our rescue centre
You’re invited to come and meet our rescued horses, ponies and donkeys during our open day, held on the first Sunday of each month from 1pm to 4pm. Entry is free and children are welcome.
On the day, we offer a free guided tour of our stables and fields at 2pm sharp – make sure you pop along at this time to be able to meet our horses.
During the tour, you'll hear the incredible survival stories of some of our most famous horses – including beautiful Bronson, who survived being beaten with a hammer; Captain and Hope, whose terrible starvation case helped change the face of animal welfare in Spain; and Luceiro, who lost an eye but remains one of our most majestic and spirited horses.
"Maybe you can't change the world by saving one horse, but you can change the whole world for the horse that you save." – Sue Weeding, Easy Horse Care co-founder.
Don't forget to use the hashtag #easyhorsecarerescuecentre on social media, so we can see all of your beautiful photos!
Meet Sue and Rod and linger for a cool drink or snack
You’ll also get to meet us, Sue and Rod Weeding, a British couple who founded the Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre back in 2008.
Afterwards, you might like to stop for a cool drink, cake or savoury vegetarian snack in our little cafe, named Charity’s Tearoom after one of our very special donkeys.
While you’re there, you can also purchase t-shirts, keyrings, books and more. Proceeds from these sales help feed our equines and allow us to continue our work to improve animal welfare across Spain.
We are located in the Alicante region of southeastern Spain, just outside of the township of Rojales at Partido Lo Garriga, 59. Click here for a map and detailed directions to the rescue centre. We hope to see you here!
Interested in private tours for groups?
We occasionally offer one-hour private tours outside of our free monthly open day hours for groups interested in hearing our story and meeting our residents.
Please note we ask a minimum donation on the day of €50 per group, or €5 per person for groups of 10 or more, to help cover the time it takes to prepare the centre and arrange extra volunteers.
To request a tour, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, contact details, number of people and the day you'd like to visit – we will do our best to accomodate you.
Want to come and stay at our rescue centre?
We offer a relaxed and fun working holiday program, designed to let you enjoy sunny Spanish life while making a positive difference in the daily lives of abused and neglected horses, ponies and donkeys.
You'll be one of a maximum six people selected to come and live at our rescue centre for anywhere from one week to two months – you decide how long you'll stay, depending on how much time you have to spare. Head here for full details.
Like to get to know our rescued residents one-on-one?
We're always looking for enthusiastic volunteers can commit to regularly helping brush and groom our horses or muck out their stables and fields.
Grooming is a lovely peaceful way of whiling away a few hours outdoors while directly helping improve the wellbeing of our rescued animals. Find out more about volunteering here.
