Rescue date – 22 October 2008
Taffeta is an 11 year old miniature pony. When we rescued her she was so thin that her hip bones had broken through her skin from lying down. Infection set in and she had gaping holes in both sides exposing the bones. She had to have daily antibiotic injections and a great deal of care from us. Weeks of intensive care saw her improve but just when it seemed the worst was over she developed a serious infection in her gums and sinuses. Puss was oozing from her eye and she risked losing it. She was rushed to the Alicante animal hospital for surgery and stayed there for an agonisingly long three weeks.
By the time she returned to the Rescue Centre she had all four hooves firmly planted on the ground.
Update - 21 April 2011
Today Taffeta is hardly recognisable from the tiny bag of bones that first arrived at the Rescue Centre and has become a huge celebrity and something of a diva. Her diary is full to bursting as she is so popular and such a hard working girl! She loves attending fundraising events thereby helping us to raise hugely needed funds for the Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre and enabling us to rescue other neglected and abused horses in distress. She is always happy to make a guest appearance at events arranged by our supporters to raise much needed cash for the Rescue Centre and enjoys being in the limelight. Planned for the future and a very important engagement in Taffeta’s diary is a fashion show organised by the Looking Good Boutique. Designer Joseph Ribkoff is travelling over from Canada so Taffeta will be mixing with very important company and will therefore need to look her absolute best. After much deliberation she has finally chosen her outfit for the day and decided she will be wearing a bright pink tutu. Should the Paparazzi be in attendance on this very important occasion Taffeta has confirmed that she will allow photos to be taken!
