Easy Horse Care Rescue Centre

Our mission is to rescue and rehabilitate abused, neglected and abandoned horses, ponies and donkeys, while campaigning for the better treatment of animals across Spain. We are a no-kill foundation and provide each rescued animal with a safe and loving sanctuary – either here at our centre or via rehoming – for the rest of their lives.

Our rescued horses

Everything we do here at Easy Horse Care comes back to these guys – the horses we've saved from abuse, neglect and abandonment. Many of these animals lived in terrible circumstances yet managed to survive against the odds.

Here you can meet the many horses we've saved and read their incredible survival stories. You can also meet our rescued ponies here and our rescued donkeys here.

"Maybe you can't change the world by saving one horse, but you can change the whole world for the horse that you save." – Sue Weeding, Easy Horse Care co-founder.

Beni had serious psychological problems when first rescued and bore scarring down his front legs. Over the years we’ve helped him heal psychologically and physically and he now enjoys life at our centre.

1Bronson by Eck

Bronson had been beaten so badly with a hammer that his skull was fractured. His balance and eyesight have been permanently affected, yet he is one of the kindest, happiest horses you could meet.

Bronte in March 2017 photo Elaine Warnock

Bronte was once a competition horse in the UK and came to live in our centre not because she was neglected or abused, but because she had owners who cared very much for her.

Chulo the rescued horse.

Chulo came to us because his owner could no longer afford his upkeep. He had developed the habit of "wind sucking", meaning he was likely locked in a stable for long periods at some stage during his life.

Alena and Crystal

Crystal was once worth a fortune as a broodmare, but her owners stopped feeding her as the Spanish economic crisis hit. At first terribly thin and very antisocial, Crystal now loves our open days and wants to meet absolutely everybody.

Jett in June 2013

Skeletal and with one hind leg close to collapsing, it's incredible that Jett survived. Poor bone development has left Jett with severe deformities that require ongoing special care, but he’s a fiercely intelligent horse with great inner strength.
